Laptop Model : HP Pavilion G6
Motherboard Number : 6050A2412201
Fault
: Does Not Power On
Repair
Process :
I found that the motherboard had been repaired in several places.
Fortunately, there were no missing parts. I checked the resistance and found
that the common point was short-circuited.
After measuring the common point and the resistance of each major
inductor, I found no problem, so I had to use the burn-in method.
I found that there were several small chip capacitors on the back of the
motherboard that were hot. After drying them all, I used a multimeter to
measure that only one was short-circuited.
After replacing them, the resistance of the common point was normal.
Confirm again that the resistance values of all major inductors are
normal, then power on and measure the voltage at the common point to be normal.
The 3V/5V inductor has no voltage, and then check the drawing to see the
conditions of the 3V/5V power supply chip.
By checking the resistance value, it was found that the 3V core VGGE3
was short-circuited. When the Laptop was burned again, it was found that the EC
was very hot.
In order to confirm that the EC is really short-circuited, I
disconnected the power supply of the EC (killed the L590), and the EC was no
longer hot. I killed the EC, and the value was no longer short-circuited.
I confirmed that the EC was short-circuited. After replacing the
EC, it was powered on and the standby function was normal.
Install the CPU and memory and turn on the Laptop directly.
At this point, the repair is completed.
Happy Repairing !!
